Yvonne Harrington
Age 75, of Montour Falls, passed away October 4, 2016. Yvonne Kay Oplinger was born September 29, 1941, the daughter of Harry and Twilla of Savona, NY. She was an avid lover of animals, especially of horses and dogs. She loved to paint ceramics and collect TY Beanie Babies. She also enjoyed camping with her husband, Patrick Harrington, and sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Jim Turner. Yvonne was a hard worker and dedicated to her job. She worked at Shepard Niles and became one of the first 15 women they hired. Later, she worked for Borg-Warner, Emerson, and Tops Market in Watkins Glen. Yvonne was the mother of Stephen LeRoy Heath, who predeceased her just six months ago, and David ”Tad” Heath, of Painted Post. She was also the step-mother of Michael and Christopher Harrington; great-grandmother of 5; step-grandmother of 3; and great-grandmother of 3. In addition to her son Tad, Yvonne is survived by her sister, Elaine (Jim) Turner. She was predeceased by her parents; husband Patrick Harrington; sister Arlene (Mike) Stopka, and brother David (Anita) Oplinger. Yvonne is also survived by sisters-in-law, Judy (Art) White-Wunder, Sherie (Dan) Bradley, Hollie (Julie) Harrington-Tenney, and Melissa Harrington; brothers-in-law, David(Robin) and Danny Harrington; 16 nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews. Her work ethic and love for life were her legacy. May she rest in the Lord. A graveside service will be held at Montour Cemetery (2nd Entrance) on Saturday, October 15, at 11:00am.
